After the bolschewist coup in the october of 1917 millions of russians, to escape supression, fled from the newly established Sowjet Union. Especially spiritual people had to fear the new regime. With the first wave of emigrations 20 bishops and hundreds of priests, who saw the church infiltrated by communists, left the country to form the "Russisch Orthodoxe Kirche außer Landes" in 1921 in Serbia. Because of the anti-bolischewist and monarchistic character of this organisation the patriarch of Moscow banned this formation under the pressure of the Sowjets. Since this splitting both sides characterize each other unfairly as "slaves of imperialists" and "Sowjet-bishops". They excommunicated each other.
Since the downfall of the Sowjet system the russian orthodox church experiences a renaissance. Since 2003 negotiations for merging the groups developed and on the 17th of May 2007 Wladimir Putin announced the Schisma do be over.
The foreign church stays an autonomic group, but under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchat.
This DVD documents the book premiere in the Berlin city hall in the autumn of 2009.
